Cichlid is very agressive to the new fish, help!
I have two cichlids already, and i believe they are mating,i just recently bought another cichlid and put it in the tank, the fish are very agressive to the new fish, will this change? Is it okay that i put this fish in there.

African Cichlids are territorial and you will need to rearrange the tank so that the fish have to stake new claims together. In a sense, have them all start the land race at the same time so that one isn’t searching for a home while others are defending theirs. Be aware that each fish needs it’s own hiding place where it can be out of sight from the other tank mates.
I would like to say…well first of all your two cichilids that you had in there alredy had stablished their territory,so when you brougth that new one they saw him as an intruder and thus attacking.i recommed you buy more chilids to spread out the agression or you can just redecorate your tank so everyone has a fair shot at establishing territory.
I have had a similar problem in the past. I had 5 in one tank and then the pinks began to mate. The closer it gets to birthing the more area they will claim. It is best to relocate the mating fish to another tank(10 gal should work unless they are bigger). After the young are hatched and swimming “freely”, without parent, then you should be able to move the mating couple to the original tank. Remember the other fish will eat the babies imediately so let them grow some before adding them to the other tank. When cleaning the tank where the nest is be careful!!! My male pink took a 1/4 in chunk out of the skin between my thumb and finger when I got too close!!
I would like to say… I have found by adding only one fish it get’s bullied, but adding two or three it is less tramatic for the new comers. I hope this is helpful to you.
